Hasbro is bringing its popular blaster brand Nerf into the pet market with Nerf Dog.
It’s announced a strategic licensing programme with Gramercy Products to launch a full range of Nerf-inspired canine retrieving toys in the US.
They will launch in Walmart stores this summer, followed by pet specialty stores in autumn.
The Nerf Dog retrieving toys – including a long distance ball thrower that can propel a toy up to 250 feet – feature extra tough Nylon construction and stitching. The toys will be priced from $5 to $15.
“Nerf Dog is a great example of Hasbro’s strategic approach to marrying the sports action category with key brands like Nerf,” said Simon Waters, Senior Vice President, Global Brand Licensing & Publishing at Hasbro.
Elsewhere, Hasbro, has signed publishing agreements with becker&mayer and IDW Publishing, and reached an agreement in principal with Little Brown Books for Young Children, to publish gift books based on the Transformers and My Little Pony brands.
