Retail sales tracker NPD Group expects UK sales of outdoor toys to really pick up following the wet weather experienced earlier this year.
So far in 2013, the bad weather has resulted in fewer sales of outdoor toys, a category that usually sells well during the late spring.
In the UK, sales in the outdoor toys category declined 21 per cent this year to the end of April.
"The cold and wet weather meaning the sector was unable to take advantage of the traditionally strong Easter break retail opportunity," read a statement.
Frederique Tutt, Global Toy Industry Analyst with The NPD Group, said: "Outdoor toy sales fluctuate from month-to-month depending on the weather.
"We expect Brits to compensate for a cold and rainy spring by buying those outdoor toys before the end of the summer – even if we cannot guarantee sales will be level with last year after such a challenging start.”
