A fresh range of craft kits that let kids create their own cushions and masks will debut at retail in July.
The MakeMee Woodland Friends line from LuMoo, a UK-based children’s product developer that was set up last year, is heading to Hobbycraft, Debenhams, Early Learning Centre (ELC), The National Trust and TTS Group. Own-label lines will also go on sale shortly in Mothercare/ELC. LuMoo is also looking to launch into independent retailers this summer, and is confident of a strong year ahead.
“We ultimately want to become a first choice champion brand for retailers and distributors looking for children’s art and craft and supplementary creative products,” LuMoo founding director Matthew Stringer told ToyNews.
“Our products are unique, they look great, and deliver great margin returns on sale, whilst hitting pocket money and gifting price points that allow them to be accessible across all socio economic groups. Art
and craft developers are often guilty of churning out the same ideas and techniques, simply retro-fitting off shelf kits to artwork, which we feel has given the sector a dated and sometimes unimaginative feel.
“LuMoo is working hard to try and buck the trend, with our products starting their lives as a design first and foremost.”
LuMoo says it’s also continuing to invest in its character licensing arm ‘Moolu’. It hopes to bring a range of supplementary children’s consumer products to the market later in 2013 and beyond, using its character copyright designs.
Founders Lucy (Lu) and Matt (Moo) have many years of product and brand development between them, having worked with leading retailers on branded and own-label art and craft products before setting up their own business.
LuMoo products are distributed by Zappies.
