UK ‘luckiest in Europe’ in LEGO’s Mr Gold hunt

The UK is the ‘luckiest country in Europe’ according to LEGO, with it coming out on top in the table of countries with the most LEGO Minifigures’ Mr Gold figures found.

95 lucky LEGO fans across the UK have managed to get their hands on the rare character as, for the first time in history LEGO has launched its ‘Willy Wonka style’ search for the elusive collectible.

The character has been discovered in the UK location including Burton on Trent, Wetherby, Leeds, Stafford and Worthing.

520 Mr Gold Minifigures have been found to date across the globe, with 4,488 still to be discovered.

To help locate all of the 5,000 Mr Gold Minifigures, LEGO has created a global online mapping system where winners can upload their details on to the world map.

The UK is currently leading Europe in the winning stakes. The top five leading European countries with Mr Gold winners are:

1. UK
2. Germany
3. Italy and Ireland
4. Netherlands
5. Denmark, Switzerland, Spain and Poland

A LEGO spokesperson said: "It seems the UK is the luckiest country in Europe for bagging 95 Mr Gold Minifigures so far.

"As soon as the Series 10 Minifigures went on sale, LEGO fans up and down the country were queuing outside of toy shops and LEGO stores to be one of the first to get their hands on a super rare Mr Gold.

"May the luck continue and we look forward to seeing how many winners the UK produces."

There are 16 figures to collect in the LEGO Minifigures series 10 range including Warrior Woman, Sad Clown, Roman Commander and Bumblebee Girl.

Each blind bag retails at £1.99 and are available at all good retailers.
