This week Peter Jenkinson is hard at work in the editing suite, but takes a break to test out Character's AppGear range.
This week started in a bittersweet fashion. After securing a rather decent place to bed down in Harrogate using some gathered credit card points, a call came in on Monday morning that couldn’t be ignored.
We’ve had some very early, initial, no-to-be-relied-upon, don’t get too excited about interest to fund, perhaps, just a little bit of our Toyology TV venture.
I might sound cautious, and perhaps I am a little, but my optimism is unbridled. Just don’t tell them that.
So it was all hands on deck and into the edit suite to piece together the best of our clips and pen together some fancy wordage on why our program would set the world on fire.
It was utterly enjoyable and has reinvigorated me. I had been so deeply involved at the rock-face of the project that it became dangerously close to a chore – lucky escape.
After being in the “bunker” a few days it was a welcome relief to spot an opportunity to get out and enjoy some rays. Hopping on the riverboat service that leaves from right by our offices myself and our new events director sailed down into central London to catch up with a couple of the Character team and have an hour blasting/flying/shooting and Burbzing (Zombie speak) on the AppGear range in a well air-conditioned space supplied with chilled soft drinks.
With a gathered room of potential targets for our forthcoming Appletics event it seemed appropriate after having a muck about with the toys to bring up the 6th July gathering of appcessories and turns out everyone knew about it.
Now that made me very happy. I of course tried to play it cool - never been very good at that – so I beamed from ear-to-ear, possibly even a little gurn-like (are you sure those were soft drinks?).
Reality bites back today, well more of a nibble really. Time to finish the first part of our show reel to take to the media teams for some early input. This process has taken much longer than we’d ever expected and even my seasoned TV ad producer didn’t dream it could take over his life to such a degree, but it has, and he loves it (though he would never admit it).
Into the weekend I can honestly say that I’m looking forward to some rest and fun in the sun with the kids. It’s going to take blinking ages to fill up that paddling pool with these here water restrictions, but I’m so elevated by the occurrences of the past five days am wishing Monday upon myself already.
If you do decide to call me on Monday you’ll be answered at Marvel superhero speed.
Peter Jenkinson of Toyology.tv is looking forward to getting out his summer wear this weekend and has created a new character for himself “Pete the prompt phone picker-upperer” – Perhaps not.
