Zootopia, The Jungle Book and Fantastic Beasts win big at Oscars 2017

Each took home the prestigious awards at the Oscars event, held last night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

While the 2017 Oscars may go down in history for that whopping Best Picture faux pas, it was a number of leading children’s entertainment franchises that undoubtedly stole the show at this year’s awards.

Zootopia, Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them each took home the prestigious awards at the Oscars event, held last night at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The Jungle Book took home the coveted gong in the Best Visual Effects category, beating Marvel’s Doctor Strange and Disney’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Elsewhere, Suicide Squad took the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, while Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them won out in the Best Costume Design category.

Disney’s Zootopia (released in the UK as Zootropolis) trounced Disney’s Moana in a derby match for Best Animated Feature.

Despite being nominated in a number of categories, including Best Editing, Disney’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story failed to leave much of an impression on the evening’s proceedings.

But then it was up against this year’s Emma Stone-gate.
