New venture will see dance company perform an exclusive Hip Hop Hula Hoop dance.

Choreographed by Wham-O Europe’s UK Hula Hooping ambassador, Charlene Davies, in a collaboration with the Big Dance Bus 2012 dance company, the dance piece will be showcased across the Big Dance Bus 2012 tour with Davies hosting Hula Hooping workshops at each of the stops.

Led by the Greater London Authority, the Arts Council England and Foundation for Community Dance, the Big Dance Bus tour will take place across the UK from July 7th to 15th, 2012, and will feature as part of the London 2012 Festival – the finale of the Cultural Olympiad.

Wham-O Europe’s Hula Hoop Hip Hop dance crew will be a feature performance across the tour, with dancers taking to the stage in what is expected to be the world’s first Hip Hop dance presentation through the medium of Hula Hoop.

The Big Dance Bus 2012 has a dedicated Media Lab producing daily web content, photos, videos and blog content for the duration of the event.

Wham-O Europe will also be promoting Hula Hoop throughout the tour with competitions, giveaways, flyers, workshops and branded promotional material.

"Hula Hoop is a household name across the world and has become deeply embedded in our culture,” said Charlene Davies, UK Hula Hoop ambassador for Wham-O Europe.

"I just love it, and it’s great to see people of all ages and backgrounds getting into Hooping. To be recognised by one of the leading cultural organisations in the country is fantastic and I simply can’t wait to head-off on tour with the Hip Hop Hula Hoop dance crew and get the nation Hooping."

Alex Kovacevic, brand manager, Wham-O Europe concluded: "It’s a huge honour to be invited to take part in the Big Dance Bus 2012. This really shows how enduring the popularity Hula Hoop is and how embedded it has become in our culture."
