US: Robotics firm Ubtech enters STEM toy market

Called Jimu Robots, the new line allows kids to build and programme their own robot characters Buzzbot and Muttbot, before sharing them among Jimu’s online community.

US robotics firm and the team behind the Alpha Series of humanoid robots, Ubtech is making a leap into the children’s market with a new STEM toy line.

Called Jimu Robots, the new line allows kids to build and programme their own robot characters Buzzbot and Muttbot, before sharing them among Jimu’s online community.

The new line of toys designed to encourage kids in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, has already secured placement within retailers across the US including Toys R Us, Target and Amazon.com.

Four kits will be available in the initial launch, including Meenot Kit, Buzzbot and Muttbot Kit, the Explorer Kit and Inventor Kit, each allowing kids to create a series of robotic creatures such as penguins, rhinos, elephants and of course humanoids.

“Jimu Robots are a win-win for kids and parents alike,” said John Rhee, general manager, North America, Ubtech.

“Kids love Jimu because the robots are fun to build and control; parents love Jimu because their children are not only developing valuable STEM skills as they build, programme and code, but are also challenged to use and stretch their imaginations as they design their own creations.”
