To mark the occasion, the two firms are joining forces to launch in-store events to encourage kids to get up and play.
Toys R Us is rolling out a series of events within its stores this summer with the help of Nickelodeon.
Designed to encourage kids to get up and play, a series of events, toy sweepstakes and more will be held in celebration of Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play on September 30th.
"In an attempt to shape our kids into better versions of ourselves, what we as parents have actually done is over-schedule and regiment their lives – and where's the fun in that?" said Carla Hassan, executive VP of global chief marketing officer, Toys R Us.
"At Toys R Us, we know play has the power to help kids build self-esteem, learn critical thinking and develop early learning skills. But first we need to set play free, which is why we're so excited to partner with Nickelodeon to encourage kids to play outside the box."
Throughout August and September, five Toys R Us stores in the US will host the Time to Play events, which will boast giant inflatables, obstacle courses, Slime photo stations and more.
Plus, in September kids will get the chance to win toys through the Free Play of the Week sweepstakes at Toys R Us stores nationwide.
