ToyNews Women of the Year 2016: Winners revealed

Playtime PR's Lesley Singleton, Trends UK's Lindsay Hardy and Pittilla PR's Julie Pittilla among this year's winners.

Playtime PR's Lesley Singleton has been named as this year's ToyNews Woman of the Year.

Singleton scooped the accolade at a special event held at Soho Hotel yesterday (Thursday, July 21st), where she was also named this year's PR & Communications Woman of the Year.

"I was properly so shocked, but delighted and proud that our hardwork is being recongnised" said Singleton. "It was enough just to make the list, which was full of amazing, inspiring women, so to win is an added bonus."

Elsewhere, Hannah Beeching, marketing executive at Coiledspring Games, won this year's Rising Star award sponsored by Gameplan Europe, while Big Ideas Product Development's Ruth Elliott (the creator of over 250 toys and games) was named this year's Inventor/Designer of the Year.

Lindsay Hardy, marketing director at Trends UK, won the Marketeer of the Year award while Pittilla PR's Julie Pittilla won the Lifetime Achievement award, sponsored by Pursuit NHA International.

"I could not be more chuffed," said Pittilla. "It was just lovely to be nominated. I'd practiced my face if I didn't win because it was such a strong category. They were all great. I'm honestly so shocked."

The event saw industry execs packed into the central London venue to celebrate the female role models in the toy business and enjoy an afternoon of networking.

"We are absolutely delighted with how this year's ToyNews Women of the Year event was recieved" said Billy Langsworthy, editior of ToyNews.

"We had five inspiring winners and it was great to see so many people coming out to support the initiative once again. It was a slick, fun day, and the open bar seemed to go down well."
