Technology toys applauded at London Toy Fair.
The Best New Toy Awards of 2012 applauded technology toys this morning at London’s Toy Fair, with a brand new App category added to the awards list.
The three winners of the very first Best New App Toys were AppGear from Character Options, Vivid’s Moshi App Monster and first time exhibitor Zeon’s Tardis Smart Safe.
UK manufacturer Hornby Hobbies was among the big winners, picking up three Best New Toy gongs, while Character Options, Flair and Vivid Toy Group took two medals apiece. Licensed toys also fared well across a range of categories with toys from key children’s entertainment properties Ben 10, Moshi Monsters, Doctor Who, Hello Kitty, Mike the Knight and Fireman Sam featuring heavily.
The 32 winning toys from 25 different suppliers were unveiled by show organisers the British Toy & Hobby Association. Voted for by a panel of independent toy retailers, they are the Toy Fair launches with the most potential to make a mark on retail throughout 2012 and beyond. The products also include toys to suit every pocket, with a wide range of price points on the list, from affordable everyday pocket money spends, through to one off purchases.
“This year’s Toy Fair Best New Toy Award winners show just how innovative and ‘on the pulse’ the UK toy industry is with exciting new product launches across traditional and cutting edge categories,” said Majen Immink, communications manager, British Toy & Hobby Association.
