The LEGO Group has unveiled the Guinness World Record's largest wind turbine made out of LEGO bricks at Liverpool One, to celebrate the firm's latest investment in the Burbo Bank Extension wind farm, off the coast of Liverpool.
The impressive construction was made with over 146,251 LEGO Bricks and over 7.5m in height and took a team of 10-15 people over 600 hours to complete. The investment sees the firm reach its ambition of balancing 100% of global energy use with the production of renewable energy.
Guinness World Record adjudicator Anna Orford presented the certificate for the World Record for the largest wind turbine made out of LEGO bricks to Tim Brooks, The LEGO Group's Vice President for Environmental Responsibility at the installation's opening. This celebrates the LEGO Group achieving 100% renewable energy capacity, three years ahead of time, following an investment in the Burbo Bank Extension wind farm off the coast of Liverpool.
