Global research firm, Technavio, revealed that a growing number of bricks and mortar retailers opening websites contributed to the booming market.
The Americas has been named the largest online toys and games retailing market, reports global research firm Technavio.
A key aspect to the increase in sales of online toys in the Americas is the number of bricks and mortar retailers opening websites of their own or partnering with online retail giants such as Amazon.
“The online toys and games retailing market in the Americas is expected to maintain a positive growth trend in the coming years, as there is an increasing number of consumers opting for online purchase of toys and games,” said Sharan Jagannath, lead analyst at Technavio for research on toys and baby products.
“Online shopping is more convenient and offers better deals compared with bricks and mortar stores.”
According to the report, the market is segmented on product, which includes online plush toys, online infant/pre-school toys, online activity and ride-on toys, online dolls and online games and puzzles.
Meanwhile, online sales is reportedly ‘booming’ in the EMEA region due to an increased number of customers opting for online shopping to purchase toys and games for their children.
Technavio revealed that internet sales showed double-digit growth rates and reached almost 20 per cent in some mature markets.
