SPIELWARENMESSE 2011: Giochi Preziosi signs new Jakks Monsuno line

Jakks has appointed Italian toy giant Giochi Preziosi as distributor of its Monsuno range.

Giochi Preziosi has been appointed as the exclusive marketing and distribution partner in several major European markets, including the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany.

The ainmated series is being produced by Pacific Animation Partners, a joint venture between Jakks and Dentsu Entertainment.

The toy line is expected to hit US retail to coincide with the US TV series premiere scheduled for late autumn 2011 or spring 2012.

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) will be responsible for the exclusive worldwide (except Asia) distribution of the TV programming, and act as the master licensing agent for the  brand worldwide, outside of Asia. Toys, however, will be exclusively marketed and produced by Jakks.

In Asia, Dentsu, will act as the master licensing agent.

"The Giochi Preziosi Group is one of Jakks’ closest and most well respected international distribution partners. GP’s pan-European reach and proven ability to build and sustain strong, category-leading action figure franchises makes them the best choice to market and distribute Monsuno toys in this critically important region,” commented Stephen Berman, president and CEO of Jakks.

Dario Berte, co-CEO of GP, added: "We are very proud, pleased and honoured to have been entrusted with the responsibility of building the Monsuno toy brand in Europe in partnership with Jakks."

Targeted at boys aged six to eleven, the TV series will be supported by a toy line of action figures, gadgets, collectibles and integrated role play items.
