Spielwaremesse 2017 Toy Award winners revealed

The Nuremburg Toy Fair award show rewarded Hape, Tegu, Revell and LEGO.

The winners of the 2017 Spielwaremesse Toy Award show have been announced.

In the Baby & Infant category, Tegu's Beans & TumTum Magnetic Wooden Block set took home the prize, setting itself apart from other block toys with a creative use of magnets and an endearing design.

Moving up to the pre-school category, Hape's Mighty Mountain Mine, part of its Rail collection, scooped the top gong. As with other products in the Hape brand, this new lines focuses on safety and durability, while offering fun and educational play. 

While receiving their award, founder and CEO of Hape Holding AG, stated: “Mighty Mountain Mine is not only a great item for children to play with, but its features meet the requirements of both the child and parent.”

In the school kids category, LEGO Boost scooped the top spot, with the construction brand's first foray into programming. The jury recognised the product for "combining the conventional construction experience with modern technology."

Finally, in the teenager and adults category, Ravell's Control X-treme Raver VR Racer nabbed the winning spot with its innovative combination of VR and RC technology.

The winners were voted for by a panel of judges including the likes of Andrew Dobbie of Gameplan Europe, Axel Dammler of Iconkids & Youth and Nadine Müller of Premini GmbH among other industry professionals.
