Scalextric will now be represented in the real life racing of the Mini Challenge.
Team Scalextric Mini Challenge Team Drivers are Adrian Norman, who is realising a lifelong dream to race, and Patrick Mortimer, an experienced race driver. The duo will now live the dream by driving their own BMW Mini kitted out with full Scalextric slot car livery.
Adrian Norman, who works for Scalextric, will jump into the driver’s seat for the first time this April. Norman, racing number 8, will be driving a BMW Mini Cooper. He will be competing in the Club Class race against 30 other drivers.
2012 is Mortimer's second year of racing at the challenge after having seven podiums last year and finishing in second place in the club class. The drivers will be mentored by last year’s championship winner, Chris Knox.
Scalextric and Mini fans can follow the action over the summer on Facebook facebook/Scalextric, Twitter (@Scalextric and #TeamScalextric), YouTube and Flickr with minute-by-minute live updates and video clips bringing the Scalextric toy to life.
The Mini Challenge will also be televised on Mini TV online and Motors TV and full Team Scalextric coverage can be found online at Scalextric.com.
Adrian Norman said: "This is exciting news for us as a team to be supported by Scalextric, but as lifelong fans of the brand, Patrick and I cannot wait to get out there and do our best. We have outstanding support both on the race day and behind the scenes."
Paul Chandler, Scalextric’s marketing manager commented: "This is a first for the Scalextric brand and something we have always wanted to do.
"Scalextric is a well-known British brand and for most racing car drivers is the toy that starts their passion for racing. To support a British race like the Mini Challenge is very exciting for us."
