National media and gaming enthusiasts descended upon The Jam Tree for the launch and debut of new games from Esdevium, Big Potato and more.
Board Game Club is celebrating its biggest event to date, as crowds of gaming enthusiasts flocked to witness the official launch of Pants on Fire’s Marmite board games.
Over 70 people joined the Dragons' Den champions for the launch at Clapham’s The Jam Tree, in an event that welcomed national press and Marmite lovers alike.
Gaming specialists Big Potato, Esdevium, Mattel and Spin Master also enjoyed an evening of debuting new games, including the new badult title, Bucket of Doom and Timeline.
“I say it every time, but seriously, that was our best night yet,” said Lesley Singleton, co-founder of Board Game Club.
“Pants on Fire chose to use Board Game Club as the official launch event for its two new Marmite board games. This gave us the opportunity to do something really special for the brand.
“The Jam Tree treated everyone to an exclusive one-night only Marmarati cocktail, and the feedback on the games was a resounding ‘Love It!’
With its biggest turn out since its inception, the club’s founders ramped up social media efforts with gaming tweets reaching almost 50,000 people world wide.
Guests also completed feedback cards at the end of the night, voting for the game they had enjoyed the most.
Mattel’s Bounce Off, Moustache Smash from Spinmaster and Esdevium’s Timeline all tied as most popular on the night.
“It was an interesting mix of games,” continued Singleton. “From the minute we laid our eyes on Bounce-Off we knew it would be popular because of the physical play element and the fact it’s quite unlike anything else we have seen.
“Our crowd also got stuck right in to Spinmaster’s Moustache Smash and timeline is a cracking series of games from Esdevium, beautifully crafted and again pretty unique game play, which seemed to really capture everyone’s imaginations.”
The Board Game club team is already gearing up for its next event, taking place on October 16th, aptly billed as a ‘smorgasboard of scary sh*t.’
“The Board Game Club Frightfest on Thursday, October 16th is going to be a truly dark and sinister affair,” said Peter Jenkinson, Board game Club co-founder.
“We’re tapping in to Halloween and taking things right to the edge. We’re talking zombies, diseases, body parts, gore and doom.”
