A resurgent Smoby Toys plans to invest around ?12m in a new logistics centre in France.The firm has purchased a 90,000 square metre site for a 40,000 square metre logistics centre, which is scheduled for completion within two years.
The new complex is expected to create 30-50 jobs.
The firm has undergone a turnaround since it was purchased by the German Simba-Dickie Group, which installed a management team of Thomas Le Paul, former boss of Simba’s Italian office and Michael Raum from the firm’s German HQ.
According to Le Paul, Christmas orders are full and the firm expects to achieve a turnover of €120m when it’s full year results will be announced. And after the intial round of job losses numbering over a thousand, the firm is recruiting again and re-employing many of its former staff.
