My Playground outlines mission to 'revolutionise the doll's house'

The Enchanted Forest and Space Land are foldaway theatres designed to let kids choose their own roles and stories.

A team of designers has embarked on its mission to ‘revolutionise the dolls-house’ with a line of hybrid theatres aimed at both boys and girls.

My Playground has taken to Kickstarter in a bid to raise $35,000 to help bring its range of foldaway theatres to life.

Designed to draw kids away from their Smartphones and explore the depths of their own imaginations, My Playground has two themed theatres in development: The Enchanted Forest and Space Land.

Each theatre is double sided and features movable walls and props, enabling boys and girls to create a range of 3D configurations. Each set also comes with a host of characters and story telling cards, designed to give each adventure an optional kick-start.

“My Playground started from the need that we saw to create a more universal toy that inspired imaginative play, similar to the idea of dollhouses, but is suitable for both boys and girls,” My Playground founder and creator, Miran Nudell told ToyNews.

“Kids love to imagine stories and express themselves, and not all girls want to play with stereotypical dolls. On the other hand, we found play sets for boys but they were all about fire trucks, cars, police stations and warriors.

“There were no play-sets that are for both boys and girls that allow them to decide what they want to be.”

The Enchanted Forest features a magical woodland setting with hidden doors, windows, tables, bridges and a tree house, while its reverse features a hut filled with magical potions. The set comes with six characters, including a princess, protector, magician, clumsy monster and unicorn.

Meanwhile, Space Land features an array of strange creatures and a fully equipped space station.

“We have many themes up our sleeve,” said Nudell. “The possibilities are endless, from farm and castle to city, circus or ice age. The beauty of this product is its ability to be anything.”

My Playground has already secured over $4,000 of its Kickstarter goal, and with over 30 days remaining on the site, Nudell is confident about the future of the venture.

“We have already had some good feedback form toy companies, but decided we wanted to do this one ourselves. Kids love to play with My Playground and we have parents asking us where they can buy this. That’s why we decided to launch our Kickstarter project.

“Our dream I to build a company that designs more and more themes and to reveal new adventures for imaginative kids.”
