LeapFrog announces publishing and licensing partnerships to support its new Tag Reading System.

Tag will feature characters from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon as well as stories from publishers Scholastic, Harper Collins, Penguin and Simon & Schuster.

The interactive reading technology has a 21-volume library of books, activity boards and activity card sets which includes properties such as Fancy Nancy, Olivia, The Little Engine That Could, Walter the Farting Dog and Miss Spider as well as I Spy, SpongeBob SquarePants, Diego and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

Publisher Susan Katz said: “HarperCollins was delighted to adapt the best-selling Fancy Nancy series into interactive books. It is gratifying to give Nancy a voice and allow kids an opportunity to interact with her through an extra-fancy new reading technology."

Author of Olivia, Ian Falconer also said: "It is a great medium-it mixes media and it brings the book alive for kids that otherwise might be watching television or playing video games."

Doug Whiteman, publisher, Penguin added: "This is an incredible opportunity to introduce The Little Engine That Could and Walter the Farting Dog to a new generation of readers. The Tag Reading System is an innovative way to get kids engaged in reading and we could not be happier with the way this technology brings our books to life."

Suitable for children from four to eight, the Tag Reading System and its accessories will be available in summer.
