JOB OF THE WEEK: Smileyworld

Smileyworld is looking to recruit a marketing and licensing manager to assist in establishing and managing the London HQ.

The new recruit will be responsible for controlling and coordinating all product approvals. The successful candidate will also manage licensee samples and catalogues and review the product archiving system.

Successful candidates will have responsibility for the release and update of trade product information via the preparation of newsletters, preparation and organisation of trade shows (including New York, Tokyo, London, Paris and Hong Kong) and the organisation of the showroom.

Responsibility will also include reviewing texts and updating all the firm’s marketing brochures and brand profiles along with its websites.

The role includes the coordination of the company’s PR offices in six countries and providing them with regularly updated information.

Smileyworld is looking to recruit a young, dynamic, creative individual with a strong knowledge of the fashion and lifestyle industries for kids and teenagers. Experience of three years in a communications, branding and licensing role would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of proficiency with Excel, coupled with excellent written communication skills. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are also a must.

The Smiley brand is sold worldwide in several lifestyle industries and its designers are constantly developing creative, edgy products.

At the helm is Nicolas Loufrani (CEO) who, in 1997, began to create new icons based on the original Smiley logo. Today over 1200 icons are used as part of the Smileyworld brand.

The brand strives to help protect the environment and the lives of people involved in its production by using organic cotton and donating 10 per cent of its royalties to the Smiley World Association charity, whose mission is to share a smile with those in need.

Our brand is based on a communication concept aimed at improving people’s communication through various social expression products including greeting cards and gifts. It is also an educational project with books, toys and interactive products as well as a lifestyle brand for kids offering fashion and accessories.

Salary negotiable and depending on experience, contact Jacques Saing at jsaing@smileylicensing.com for further information.
