Fiesta scoops Hamleys prize

Fiesta Crafts? Creatiles beat off competition from the bigger boys to take the overall prize for Best Toy at this year?s Hamleys awards.

Creatiles is a set of 49 brightly coloured soft tiles and accessories that can be used to create a huge variety of different buildings and other play scenes. The tiles are produced by small North-London outfit Fiesta Crafts, which specialises in wood and fabric toys.

Fiesta director Andrew Bacon commented: ?Designing Creatiles was by far the most fun we have ever had developing any of our toys. It is hard to convince people that what we do is work when we are dressing each other up as robots or sitting in the middle of our office in a pretend boat or house. The more we ?worked? on Creatiles the more we found that new things could be made and I am sure we still have not discovered half of the possibilities yet.?

Other winners included Vivid Imaginations which won the Toy Of Tomorrow category with I-Video; Character Options which won the Twelfth Night Toy with Billy Kart and Ravensburger which won both the Bright Young Things Toy with its Thomas Round the Rails Game and Toy That Makes You Turn Off The TV with Make N Break.
