Disney to create its own interactive robots

The company has reportedly filed a new patent to develop a ‘soft body robot for physical interaction with humans’.

Disney could soon be developing its own interactive robots, following a new filing for a patent application.

The firm has reportedly filed the patent for a ‘soft body robot for physical interaction with humans’.

According to the patent, the robot will ‘physically interact with children, the inventors understood that the robot should be soft and durable. With this in mind, a robot physical and control design was created by the in inventors with soft and deformable body parts (or modules, segments, or the like)’.

The patent application also revealed that Disney has already developed a human-looking prototype, which was created using 3D printing.

Perhaps we could soon see Disney characters including the likes of Wall-E and Big Hero 6’s Baymax transformed into interactive droids.
