BTHA launches annual 'Ask the Media' for Toy Fair 2018

Journalists and bloggers are on hand to help toy firms avoid PR mistakes.

The British Toy and Hobby Association has today released its annual Ask the Media video for Toy Fair 2018, highlighting the stand-out PR opportunities available to exhibitors through the BTHA, as well as interviews with journalists and bloggers on their expectations for the show.

Journalists interviewed this year include Steffan Powell, broadcast journalist at the BBC, Jane Hamilton, consumer reporter at The Sun and Franca Desjadins, blogger for the award-nominated parenting blog A Moment With Franca.

Powell has worked as a consumer reporter for the BBC for more than five years, presenting radio and video documentaries for BBC Radio 1, iPlayer, BBC News Online, and BBC Wales. Hamilton is a well-renowned consumer journalist who has written for the likes of The Sun, Netmums, and Marie Claire.

The interviews will be presented by Rebecca Deeming, public relations manager at BTHA, covering such topics as how stories get picked at each outlet, what makes a good story at Toy Fair and how to avoid common PR mistakes.

“Our goal with ‘Ask the Media’ is to ensure exhibitors have all the information they need to make the most of their time at Toy Fair,” commented Deeming. “I’d like to personally thank Steffan, Jane, and Franca for taking the time to share their valuable insights. Their interviews are essential viewing for exhibitors that want to work with national and broadcast outlets, as well as the increasingly influential world of bloggers.”
