Brite Power hit by blaze

Brite Power has been rocked by a fire at its HQ in Prestwich, which has destroyed much of its stock, but the firm has reassured customers that it is still trading and will still be attending upcoming trade fairs.

The blaze caused a wall of a unit at the Mount Heath Industrial Estate on Bury New Road in Prestwich to collapse early Wednesday morning. Brite Power’s Claire Spieler, described the firm’s offices as a “hole in the ground.” Stock destroyed includes its Spray Art line which it is currently selling direct on TV, plus its Dora and Lil’ Bratz lines.

More than 60 firefighters were called to the scene and motorists were urged to avoid the area. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire Service said efforts to put the fire out were hampered as water had to be pumped from a site two miles away.

No one working on the industrial estate was injured during the fire but a nearby hotel was evacuated.

In the meantime, Brite Power will continue to trade as normal and has thanked customers and suppliers for their support. It will still be attending Toy Fair (stand NB13) and Spring Fair (Hall 5 D12). For more information call 0845 2577777, fax 0845 2577778 or email info@britepower.co.uk.
