Bladez Toys to unveil gigantic drone racer at Hamleys Christmas Parade

Bladez celebrated the launch of its Hot Wheels R/C Drone sets at the annual event.

Bladez Toys has announced it is to unveil a 'Gigantic Radio Control Hot Wheels Drone Racer' at the Hamleys Christmas Parade on Sunday 19th November to celebrate the launch of its award-winning Hot Wheels R/C Drone & Vehicle Sets.

Embracing Hot Wheels' core brand message 'Challenge Accepted' Bladez' innovation design engineer and YouTuber James Bruton took on CEO Iain Morgan's challenge to build the 25:1 scale model Drone Racer and film the project for his YouTube channel.

The Drone Racer now sits at six feet long and six feet wide with full radio control function and looks exactly like the toy, following six months of hard work designing and building the vehicle.

The giant Drone Racer will be driven by James during the Hamleys Christmas Parade and fans can attend a meet and greet at the Bladez Toyz marquee on Regent Street throughout the day to take photos, ask the team questions and enter an Instagram competition to win a Drone & Vehicle Set.

“We are lucky to have someone of the calibre of James on our team who is famous for his record-breaking, giant scale engineering creations and amazing craftsmanship," commented Iain Morgan.

"With almost half a million subscribers and over 150 million views on his YouTube channel, James can help us reach a wider audience within the Maker and STEM community for children and we’re really looking forward to him entertaining the crowds at the Hamleys Parade on Sunday and to inspiring the engineers of the future.  We will also be taking our awesome Drone Racer on the road in 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels, so watch this space for more stunts next year!”

“This has been a fantastic engineering project to work on and it will be a proud moment for all of the Bladez team when the Drone Racer takes to the street for the first time at the Hamleys Parade," added Bruton.

"My YouTube episodes showing the different stages of the Drone Racer build have performed very well with over 150,000 views between them so far.  We have had lots of comments praising this fun project and plans are already underway to build version two!”

Part One and Two of the build can be viewed on YouTube today, with the third and final installment coming Tuesday November 21st.
