New online version of guide goes live; companies invited to submit toys for review.
The Good Toy Guide has been reborn today after its new website launched.
It used to be run by Play Matters, which previously produced a printed guide once a year. It is now its own company and is headed up by Dr Amanda Gummer.
Gummer told ToyNews: “We’ve taken the brand and we’re working with Pauline Henniker, who used to run Play Matters.
“The Good Toy Guide website is going to be continually updated. We’re scouting for toys all the time and companies can submit toys to be reviewed at any point during the year. This keeps the site current and more searchable.
“We have a range of categories, so you can search for things that are British-made or environmentally friendly, for example. We’ve also got search terms for products that are good for kids with learning difficulties or physical impairments.
Gummer added: “We’re trying to make it as accessible and as user-friendly as possible.
“Pauline Henniker is on board and is going to develop training programmes for people working with children, to highlight the benefit of play.”
ToyNews is the official trade media partner of The Good Toy Guide.
