The kick off for Independent Retailer Month is on July 1st, with a special event at Cranmore Park in Solihull, where up to 200 retail businesses will have the opportunity to hear from and network with a number of award winning indie retailers.

The gathered delegates will also hear from a panel of representatives from the British Independent Retailer Association, Federation of Small Businesses, Association of Town Centre Management, Action for Market Towns and Skillsmart Retail.

Throughout July, retailers UK-wide are planning to display posters that encourage customers to come in and find out more. Planned activities range from shopping crawls in Banbury to Italian-themed promotions and events in Tewkesbury.

"Independents add vibrancy, diversity and often provide a route to market for smaller brands, makers and designers who might otherwise never get their products in front of shoppers," said Clare Rayner, The Retail Champion and UK lead for Independent Retailer Month. "Often leading on service, offering a more attentive, personal approach, it's no wonder smaller, independent retailers are often described fondly as 'our friendly local independent."
