US Toy Fair attendance rises

Visitors to the show totalled 25,030, an increase of four per cent year-on-year.

The show attracted over 10,600 buyers  from 85 countries, an increase of three per cent over 2009.

Around 285 of the 1,100 exhibiting companies this year were first time exhibitors and in total, it is estimated that 100,000 new toys and youth products were unviled at the exhibition.

Carter Keithley, president of the Toy Industry Association commented: "Attendance, energy and momentum were all up this year.

"Buyers lined the aisles and exhibitors were writing a steady stream of orders, creating an unmistakable buzz that carried throughout the four days of the show."

The total number of retail outlets represented at the show increased by two per cent year-on-year, with 5,744 organisations in attendance.

Marian Bossard, TIA vice president of meetings and events said: "The number of buyers and the number of retail outlets both increased from last year.

"Toy Fair continues to be a place where buyers and manufacturers gather to do business and strike up deals, while press flock to the show to report on new product and trends."

Exhibitor Harold Chizick, CP of global communications and promotions at Spin Master said: "This year's Toy Fair was four days of nonstop business. Out booth was constantly filled with  top quality buyers, deal-makers and A-list media."

The next US Toy Fair will be held at the Javits Convention Centre in New York from February 13th to 16th 2011.
