Brio has closed its UK office and handed exclusive UK distribution rights to Treasure Trove.
From July 1st Treasure Trove Toys will handle the sales, marketing and distribution of Brio toys in the UK and Ireland. As part of the restructuring, Brio’s UK office in Loughborough will close from June 30th
The move is part of Brio’s new strategy to work with distributors in its markets outside Scandinavia and Germany.
Commenting on the agreement Brio’s export manager, Stefan Petersen (pictured right), said: “We believe Treasure Trove’s experience and commitment will increase the level of service to our UK customers, and further grow the Brio brand. Treasure Trove has effectively handled the integration of the Breyer line and the ranges fit well together. We feel confident we have found a very good partner in Treasure Trove for our toy business in the UK and Eire.”
The agreement is a boost to Treasure Trove’s turnover and profitability, following the announcement in March that the company had taken on the Safari brand.
Treasure Trove MD Robin Bennett (left) added: “This is also good news for the local community here in Gloucestershire as it necessitates increased warehouse space, and staff, to support this significant growth in our business. Notably the change we will effect, of Brio products being shipped from our warehouse, rather than from Sweden, will improve service levels to our customers. I am particularly happy to welcome Paul Sirett to the Board of Treasure Trove. His experience with Brio and the toy trade will be invaluable.”
From 1st July all Brio enquires should be channelled through Treasure Trove Customer Service on 01285 762039.
