Mattel enlists Shaw as part of its marketing campaign for the Barbie & The Diamond Castle DVD and toy range.
Scheduled for release on September 8th, the DVD will feature UK singer and actress Suzanne Shaw’s recording of the credit song, Connected.
Mattel’s deal with Shaw forms part of the firm’s marketing programme for the DVD and toy range, which will also feature TV and online activity plus retailer initiatives.
Mattel Girls senior marketing manager, Trine Hammer-Frausing, said: “This is just one of a number of exciting, brand new initiatives we are undertaking this year aiming to deliver our messages to consumers in innovative way.”
Suzanne Shaw added: “I’ve always been a massive Barbie fan so I’m thrilled to be singing Connected. It’s such a cool pop song – it’s so fun and poppy and I think girls are going to love singing it!”
Julia Mallinson, director of home entertainment, Entertainment Rights, also said: “Barbie & The Diamond Castle is a traditional fairytale with a modern twist; it features a contemporary, pop-style soundtrack, which really suits Suzanne’s voice.”
