Chocolate scores Pleo pitch

UK PR and marketing firm lands robotic dinosaur launch campaign

Chocolate Communications has been tasked with marketing Pleo, a lifelike robotic dinosaur, to the British public, after it experienced a successful launch in the US.

Manufactured by Ugobe and distributed in the UK by Vivid, the robotic dinosaur, which is modelled on a one-week-old long neck dinosaur, can be upgraded and customised through downloads. It is equipped with nearly 40 sensors, including infrared and stereophonic sound, and it doesn’t require a remote control.

Chocolate’s campaign will vary from targeting bloggers, leveraging social networks and a viral campaign along with product placement and other PR activity.

There is also a supporting website, pleoworld.com with product information, video clips and downloads.

Martin Hitch, VP, Sales and Business Development, Ugobe, said: “Chocolate came to us with a compelling and very creative pitch. We felt they understood us and we would work well together and, as a result, they got the brief.”

Jill Coomber, founder of Chocolate Communications, added: “We have long had our eyes on Pleo and jumped at the opportunity to pitch. We are all really excited to be working with UGOBE and can’t wait to unleash Pleo to an unsuspecting British public.”
