Cartoon Network ages Ben by five years to increase marketing opportunities.
In the new series Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben will be a teenager, giving Bandai the opportunity to include remote control vehicles, electronics and other categories in its merchandise.
Beth Goss, vice president of Cartoon Network ad sales, marketing and enterprises said: “It’s less about aging the character and more about being proactive and moving the story forward. It enables him to have more intelligence about his powers. Age 10 was limiting.”
