John Lewis forecasts toy sales peak

John Lewis predicts a climax in toy sales in the coming days after experiencing a record sales week of £96 million.

The firm’s prediction comes despite growing fears of a slow-down in consumer spending.

Its sales have increased by more than five per cent compared to this time last year.

Dan Knowles, director of selling operations, said Star Wars products are proving very popular.

"We are delighted to be celebrating record sales. With two weeks' shopping left before Christmas it is clear that John Lewis continues to take market share," Knowles said.
