Walt Disney’s internet division will launch a web portal aimed at young adults on Monday.
The Disney.co.uk web site will feature games, films, music and social networking assets along with a shopping section.
The concept will also be offered in Europe, after being launched in the US earlier this year.
The site includes a feature called Disney Extreme Digital, which allows users to customize multi-media content while watching and sharing videos, messages, music and games.
Online parental protection measures are included into the site along with functionality that prompts children to use Disney-proposed online chat phrases, which have an emphasis on being polite while also using language that can reflect whether the user is looking at content focused on pirates or princesses.
Cindy Rose, head of Disney's Internet division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the concept forms part of the firm’s strategy to develop online communities of fan bases.
She said Disney was looking at mix of different business models to develop the UK Web site, which will carry advertising and sponsorship links.
“The Disney Web site will not initially provide full-length feature films. Is it coming? Some day," she said.
