Jamie Oliver teams with Aardman

Popular chef joins forces with studio for new animated children's TV series.

Aardman Animations is to team up with Jamie Oliver's Fresh One Productions to develop a brand new animated series, called Little J.

Aimed at seven to 11 year olds, the 52x11-minute production will be unveiled at this autumn's Cartoon Forum. The 2D show has been inspired by Oliver and his passion for good food and no-nonsense cooking. It follows Oliver's fictional ten year-old self on a quest to discover the secret of becoming a great chef.

"We were thrilled when Jamie approached us to collaborate on an animated project," said Aardman's Miles Bullough. "We quickly agreed that we needed to make a show that was first and foremost a comedy which would hopefully inspire kids to think positively about good food, even brussel sprouts."

Little J's world will be populated with a number of characters including talking food, a depressed ham, a mad scientist called Eggs Benedict who sports a chicken on his head, and his band The Vulgar Vegetables.
