Toy Trust chairman Robert Mann said: "I have received reports from many of the teams and it appears that we have achieved our goal of collectively cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End and back........well done.

"For many of us the weather was atrocious with Rain, Wind and Hail reported. One quote from Scotland was 'We had to Cycle Down Hills!!'

"Many riders completed their leg with most starting at 8.00ish and finishing around 5.00pm . I heard of a number of riders who would not give up and crossed their respective finish points at 8.30 in the evening after 12 hours!!!!! of cycling. All in a good cause and with terrific personal motivation.

"Best news was no serious injury for anyone. Plenty of sore Bots, a few scars for those who were using cycling shoes clipped to their bikes (If you are stationary you fall over!!! Your secret is safe) and some of the ladies complained that the guys were going too slow."
